Alberto Del Rio will face Jack Swagger for the United States Championship in a chairs match at TLC on Sunday. Del Rio has recently returned to the WWE, where he won the U.S title off of John Cena. He paired himself with Zeb Colter and started their own nation: 'MexAmerica', Mercifully they ended that angle on the latest episode of RAW and Del Rio is no longer aligned with Zeb. Del Rio is now a member of the League of Nations with Sheamus, Barrett and Rusev. Jack Swagger hasn't worked a meaningful angle in a long time. This will be his first in a while as he gets a shot at the United States Championship..
I would like to start by saying that I am not a huge fan of 'chair' matches.... I'm not saying it's the worst idea or worst gimmick match the WWE has but it just seems silly to me. Just seems like adding a stipulation for a stipulation sake. I get that we have a tables and a ladder match so it just makes sense to have a chairs match as well since the PPV is called Tables, Ladderd and Chairs. But it just doesn't have the same feel as a tables or ladder match..
I think there is no way that Alberto Del Rio loses here. The WWE needs to establish the League of Nations as a dominant faction and having him lose to Jack Swagger would be pointless. I think we see a half decent match where in the end, Alberto proves to be too much... It just wouldn't make sense for him to lose here...
