WWE BATTLEGROUND REVIEW

Battleground has come and gone and no matter if you loved or hated the event, we have to admit that it has gotten people talking.  And maybe that’s exactly what the WWE wanted/needed with ratings being low over the past couple weeks.

I will begin with the largest news, the UNDERTAKER returning to battleground! A lot of mixed opinions on what we saw Sunday night. Some loved seeing ‘Taker at an event not named WrestleMania. Some hated how ‘Taker was acting like a heel, using the low blow and attacking the crowd favourite. Some said ‘Taker looked too old. Personally I loved it. I have read and completely understand peoples criticism but it didn’t take away from the moment for me. Undertaker is one of wrestling icons and usually we only get to see him once a year. When that gong hit and we saw him, it felt like I was a kid again seeing one of my favourites. I marked out. I agree some spots looked sloppy and ‘Taker is showing his age but I think it’s great to see him back. This means we are going to see him at a match at Summerslam and possibly even Survivor series (where he made his debut 25 years ago). I think after he gets his revenge on Lesnar at Summerslam, it will be extremely entertaining to see where he goes next. This also takes Brock away from the main event picture and sets up Seth for new possibilities.

I also really enjoyed the Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt match. I loved that they reunited the Wyatt family and Luke Harper will be getting more screen time. It just didn’t make sense to me that Bray was on his own. His gimmick is a cult leader and he was missing the cult. I would like to see a misused superstar get brainwashed by Wyatt and join the family for a bit!
I enjoyed the divas match. I am happy they are now going to get more time and show the world that they can wrestle long matches and entertain the crowd!

Okay here are my criticisms of Battleground…

1)      The show ended 15 minutes early! I understand they had to cut Rybacks match due to his injury but you had Cesaro, Ambrose, Stardust, Neville and Rusev all NOT booked. Put them in as an early filler match with no build, crowd would have still enjoyed seeing them.
2)      Owens tapping out to Cena. I get it that Cena won and I am not even mad about that, they just made Owens look even weaker. He now has three straight losses and just tapped out. I am not sure where they go from here but he can’t afford another loss.

Overall I thought the show was decent. I was a bit underwhelmed but I still marked out like crazy for the Undertaker. What are your thoughts?? Comment or tweet us @InnerN3rd on twitter.
