I posted some predictions last week, but with all the new rumours and news that has occurred in the past few days, I figured it was necessary to do it again! Be warned, there is going to be some potential spoilers, so if you don't want Battleground ruined for you, click away now!
The big rumour going around is that we could be seeing some huge returns as soon as Sunday at Battleground. We first posted HERE, that the Undertaker will potentially be returning at Battleground. At first, I thought that he would be returning in order to cost Brock Lesnar the title or team up with a masked Kane to reform the Brothers of Destruction. Now I have also been hearing that Sting might be returning at Battleground which makes this so much more interesting. Could we be seeing a build up towards Sting and the Undertaker for Summerslam? I am honestly not sure, but I am excited to see what happens Sunday with the potential to see both these guys. With ratings lacking lately, no doubt they need some big names to keep people watching. I would love if they are slowly building a Sting vs Undertaker match at Wrestlemania. Including a Team Sting vs Team Undertaker match at Survivor Series (Which will be the 25th anniversary of Takers debut by the way). I think Kane is for sure coming back with the mask on, just not sure if it will be at Battleground or for SummerSlam.
More big news for Battleground is that Ryback will be unable to compete due to injury (Check out why HERE), I was not too excited about this match anyways, but it brings up the question of whether or not Ryback will be forced to drop the title. It also raises the question if we will see The Miz vs. The Big Show after weeks of a build. Maybe they will throw this as a pre-show match or might even drop it all together.
The next thing that happened is the NXT divas invasion leading to 3 NXT girls (Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch) being introduced to the main roster. This leads us to an interesting predicament. Even though we saw Team Bellas, Team Paige (Charlotte+Becky) and Team Naomi (Sasha and Tamina), we don't have a billed womens' match for Battleground. I think they are saving it for Summerslam, which I am okay with, but I would like to see a female match on the card, even if it was something small! Hard to say you want to change how female wrestling is perceived and then completely leave them off a payperview.
